History

The Greenshire Arts Consortium is the revitalization of the extraordinary vision of Dr. Gerald Poesnecker, N.D., D.C., a leader in the alternative health movement where he helped the sick to regain radiant health by the use of safe natural methods and became the first director of the internationally recognized Clymer Health Center in Quakertown, Pennsylvania.

With a depth of wisdom and spirit, and his profound understanding of the healing arts, Dr. Poesnecker's compassionate connection to his patients won many hearts. He was a lover of the arts, and felt that through the arts many individuals could touch their inner strength, thus finding the impetus to understanding the larger perspective of life and be in touch with the God-given healing energies existent around all of us.

With this focus, Doc envisioned a holistic outreach organization where individuals of the greater community could find a haven to rest, study,  strengthen and revitalize themselves through participating in activities promoting the Art of Inspired Living. Such a community, which he named Greenshire, had been on the drawing board for several years...and being a man of many talents, Dr. Poesnecker chose to focus on the immediate needs of the Clymer Healing Center, rather than those of Greenshire. Even though he passed away in 2003, to this very day many of us who knew Doc still feel his magnificent presence in the surrounding areas of his beloved community.

Through a series of serendipitous events, the paths of three lives have come together to continue an idea, a dream and a passion that Dr. Poesnecker had always held in his heart. The present-day Greenshire Arts Consortium is the revitalization of his vision, an outreach organization for individuals seeking to awaken the best of their human spirit. Doc's passion was to create a healing community. Arlene's passion was to create a center where individuals could gather to step out of the busyness of the day and feel the healing power of silence and community. Jim envisioned bringing together the community of people who share in the same unique ideas of the body/mind/spirit connection. With Doc's vision very much alive, Jim and Arlene Curley have now become the stewards of Greenshire.
