Continuing the Vision

Doc

The Greenshire Arts Consortium is the revitalization of the extraordinary vision of Dr. Gerald Poesnecker, N.D., D.C., a leader in the alternative health movement where he helped the sick to regain radiant health by the use of safe natural methods. Dr. Poesnecker began his professional career in Seattle, Washington, and with degrees in both Naturopathy and Chiropractic and  his innovative leadership as clinical diagnostician and therapist, he became the first director of the internationally recognized Clymer Health Clinic in Quakertown, Pennsylvania.

With a depth of wisdom and spirit, and his profound understanding of the healing arts, Dr. Poesnecker's compassionate connection to his patients won many hearts. He was a lover of the arts, and felt that through the arts many individuals could touch their inner strength, thus finding the impetus to understanding the larger perspective of life and be in touch with the God-given healing energies existent around all of us.

With this as focus, he had envisioned a holistic outreach organization where individuals of the greater community could find a haven to rest, study,  strengthen and revitalize themselves through participating in activities involving the Arts of Living. Such a community, which he named Greenshire, had been on the drawing board for several years... and being a man of many talents, Dr. Poesnecker chose to focus on the immediate needs of the Clymer Healing Center. Even though he passed away in 2003, to this very day many of us who knew Doc still feel his magnificent presence in the surrounding areas of his beloved community.

Through a series of serendipitous events, the paths of three lives have come together to continue an idea, a dream and a passion that Dr. Poesnecker had always held in his heart. The present-day Greenshire Arts Consortium is the revitalization of his vision, an outreach organization for individuals seeking to awaken the best of their human spirit.

Three Paths Intertwine

Doc's passion was to create a healing community. Arlene's passion was to create a center where individuals could gather to step out of the busyness of the day and feel the healing power of silence and community. Jim envisioned bringing together the community of people who share in the same unique ideas of  the body/mind/spirit connection. How did our paths finally come together? This is a story of the merging of three powerful ideas whose time has come.

Arlene had known Doc for many years, as she was involved in the local community when she was the founder and director of Country Gardens School, a progressive holistic school for youth and teens. After directing the school for thirteen years, in 1993 she left the area to tap into the international world of education and workshops for students and teachers. Jim had been involved in teaching, and also in the creation of  One... A Shared Journey where, via computer technology, he had created an avenue to connect holistic practitioners and workshop presenters who focused in the body/mind/spirit connection.

While Arlene was seeking connection to a holistic community, she was directed to Jim's virtual community of One... and the two met to become beloved partners in life. Continuing further expressions of their melded vision, Arlene and Jim returned to the Clymer Center area for a visit, and found that both Clymer and her sister healing center, Woodlands, were interested in outreach services that would promote the creative and healing arts. Jim and Arlene sensed that Dr. Poesnecker's dream was still very much alive, and after conversing with Dr. Kracht, Doc's successor, they were given the opportunity to continue the creation of such a center. With Doc's vision very much alive, Jim and Arlene have become the stewards of Greenshire.

Greenshire's Logo

The logo we are presently using appears on the cover of Dr. Poesnecker's book, It's Only Natural, a famous health classic, taking its place as the twenty-first century's premier text on natural treatment methods. This book had been a part of Arlene's library for many years, and in all her years of using this as reference, the frontal design held little importance for her... until the search began for the perfect Greenshire logo.

One day a friend of Arlene's came to a business meeting,  rather excited about Dr. Poesnecker's vision and eager to uncover the talents of this skilled doctor. He brought with him a photo copy of the cover of It's Only Natural. And there it was! The logo! It reminded us of the music and dance of healing energies, as it is the embellishment of the musical treble clef. And in representing Greenshire, we see that there is even a leaf attached to one end of the clef sign. What could be more perfect!

Those of you who have known Dr. Poesnecker will recollect his wonderful humor, wit and playful magic. In such miraculous ways, we thank him for continuing to guide us in the realization of his vision.
