Fine Art Exhibition: The Invitation

October 21 to November 13

Opening Reception: October 21, 5pm-9pm

Girl with Flower, bronze by Ashby Saunders

Join the Greenshire artist community for a most exciting exhibition featuring Solebury sculptor, Ashby Saunders, exhibiting his ‘Images in Bronze.’ ‘Rage’ is the title of Saunders’just-completed controversial bronze sculpture which will also be exhibited. “As we all are observers of the American scene,” comments Ashby Saunders, “I thought you might appreciate seeing how an artist reacts to the economic and political turmoil in recent months. My response is the creation of this sculpture which I call “Rage!” My intention was that it should look as gruesome, horrific and ugly as possible – to match the tone of what goes on in Washington. In a very real sense it’s as though I reached down inside myself and pulled out something I could not express in any other way…but I had to do it. The surprising thing to me is that the sculpture just seemed to take shape of its own accord.”

Also exhibiting are Alix von Auenmueller, Ron Bevilacqua, Taryn Day, David Ellsworth, Wendy Ellsworth, Edgar Hall, Nancy Hill, Mark Ludak, Robert Noonan, Colleen O'Brien, R. Woolstan Rapp and Amy Schuler, showing their creative works: wood sculpture, fine wood turning, bead art, silk painting, oil, mixed media, photography, and pottery.

The inspiration for this mixed-media exhibition comes from the understanding that humanity and our earth community share unique commonalities, with peace and love often being the thread that weaves together this genuine connection.
