The Greenshire Gardens are for your enjoyment, surrounding you with beauty and peace. They are a space for solace and meditation, where you can stroll, relax and leave the business of the world for a few precious moments.
The Greenshire gardens are both decorative and functional, and continue to be in development as inspiration continues to come to us through our many volunteers. All the gardens have been created by volunteers, and most of the materials have been donated as well. We cherish these gifts, as this is how Greenshire maintains the spectacular gardens on its seven-acre campus.

Greenshire Arts Consortium is a space for peace, dedicated to awakening the best of the human spirit while connecting community in a positive, uplifting way. As a living monument to the vision for a peaceful life and a peaceful world, Greenshire has created a Peace Garden for all to enjoy. The Peace Garden was Greenshire’s first major undertaking, and is a powerful statement of Greenshire’s vision of Peace: peace within oneself, the community, and globally.
Designed by Scott Ogburn, who specializes in sacred architecture, the garden’s structure is based on a spiral leading into a sacred center. The Indiana sandstone Peace Pole in the center was sculpted by Joel Selmeier of Cincinnati, Ohio. This seven-sided limestone peace pole weighs 900 pounds. On each side is sculpted 'May Peace Prevail on Earth' in seven different languages.

On another side of the campus you will see the award-winning Organic Vegetable Garden, principally created to teach and display sustainable gardening techniques. Greenshire currently practices the Bio-Intensive raised bed method, a highly effective, simplified approach incorporating key elements of Biodynamic Gardening, created by Rudolph Steiner.
Greenshire’s forest is the home of our natural stone amphitheater formed by giant boulders, a gift from the last ice age, along with a Heart Garden, nature trails and a freestyle labyrinth that weaves through the hardwoods and boulders of the forest. Here you can enjoy the various songbirds, witness the beams of sunlight streaking through the forest mantle and feel the rich essence of many facets of nature.
Other gardens with particular focus include a memorial garden with fountain, triangular meditation garden, butterfly garden, sacred stone circle and crape myrtle garden.

The creation of these gardens brings together the community of people who enjoy working in the earth, creating natural sustainability and fostering natural beauty.
